The Hasso Plattner Institute invites applications for a PhD position in the field of Computer Science, with a specific focus on Process Mining. This position is funded by a collaborative research project with SAP Signavio. Position Description: The selected candidate will work under the guidance of experienced researchers in the domain of Business Process Management. The focus of this position will be on a key challenge in process mining: conformance checking. In particular, the research will investigate techniques beyond control flow, which has traditionally been the focus of conformance checking. The research will be undertaken in a collaborative manner with colleagues at HPI and SAP Signavio. The research aims to contribute to both theoretical advancements and practical applications in industry.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of process mining and conformance checking.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams at HPI and SAP Signavio on research projects.
• Design and implement innovative solutions to address challenges related to the broad area of conformance checking.
• Publish research findings in reputable conferences and journals.
• Present research progress and results within the academic community.
• Contribute to the institute’s collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field with a final grade good or better
• Strong background and interest in business process management and process mining.
• Programming skills and experience with relevant tools and technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
• Effective communication skills in written and spoken English.
