suprimeIntelligent Management and Usage of Processes and Services
Within the research group of Prof. Dr. Rudi Studer at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the focus of the suprime project is on Intelligent Management and Usage of Semantic Processes and Services. We are developing methods and tools for scalable search for required Web service and process descriptions, composition of multi party processes to achieve intelligent value added processes as well as automated execution of such complex processes despite heterogeneities at different levels. Processes are semantically described using the formalism suprimePDL (suprime Process Description Language), which combines OWL, for the description of static data, with Pi-Calculus process algebra for the description of the dynamic behavior of processes and semantic SPKI for describing non-functional properties in a trustable way. A prerequisite of these aims is the ability to obtain very precise process descriptions. Therefore, we are also developing semi-automated techniques for acquiring the semantic descriptions of Web processes.
The suprime framework that reconciles above mentioned tools for various purposes is based on the Oryx editor. We have integrated the process description language suprimePDL in Oryx by defining appropriate stencil sets to obtain a Web 2.0 based graphical front end to manually edit, refine and complete semantic process descriptions in a collaborative way. Currently we are working on integrating our process query language as well our process search algorithms into suprime framework. The framework will be further extended by incorporating composition and execution techniques in order to obtain a fully fledged Web 2.0 browser based tool in which the end users can flexibly compose and execute their valued added Web processes.
